Yummy is the new shop in High Halden on the A28 Ashford Road between Tenterden and Ashford where the Snake Shed used to be.
The shop is now changing its focus to concentrate more on selling local organic produce and stocking items that customers have come in to ask for, such as ginger, garlic, chillis, bananas and grapefruit . If you need anything special please come in and ask us , becuase if we don’t have it in stock we’ll get it in the following day, as we’re having fresh deliveries every day.
Yummy is also doing a pricematch where we aim to match or undercut supermarkets on a lot of our ranges.
We are also now selling greeting cards and stamps.
Yummy continues to sell a wide range of food essentials including seasonal local organic vegetables, local bread, local milk, rice, pasta, cereals, cheese, ice cream, chocolate, cooking sauces, soups, ready meals, tea, coffee, bisuits and cakes. As much of our range as possible is organic.
We also have a wide selection of products suitable for vegans and many of our products are gluten free. We also stock a range of spelt products.
We stock many well known brands including Montezuma’s, Tyrrells, Clipper, Cafe Direct, Provamel, Alpro, Dorset Cereals, Ella’s Kitchen, Thursday Cottage, Biona, Hale & Hearty, Ecover, Doves Farm, Billingtons and many more.
Our vegetables are all local and organic and supplied by Ripple Farm Organics.

People of High Halden. We now have a shop – something that has been missing from this village for too long. Please support it or we will loose it and that would be a big shame.

Hi Jeff & Karen
Thank you for your comprehensive reply. We appreciate your comments and fully understand the problem. We will be returning home on 9th March after enjoying the winter sunshine in Lanzarote for a few weeks and will make a point of coming to introduce ourselves. Our son runs a Food Brokers business and has many contacts with grocery and wine suppliers through McColls of Brentwood.
We look forward to meeting you both.
Kind regards, Graeme & Doreen

Hi Graeme and Doreen
Thank you for your support and your kind wishes.
We’ve looked at various options for newspapers. We’re too small (and too poor!) to set up a proper account with a group like Menzies, and have been told our best option is to sub off a larger newsagent. This would mean not only that the margins are tiny, but we would be unable to have them on a sale-or-return basis. So we’d need to sell many papers to cover the cost of each unsold one. We’re in a similar position currently with our bread and vegetables which we’re constantly replacing and which we are losing money on.
We’ve been informed that Jackie’s Newsagent has an excellent delivery service in the village and therefore trying to cater to those that only require the occasional newspaper is hard as demand will change from day to day.
In the last 2 weeks we have listened to the suggestions of our customers and have ordered in many items that have been requested, including greeting cards, ready-to-eat pies and wraps, the Wealden Ad, and a range of vitamins and supplements.
We’ve just about run out of room (and energy!) but if we can reach the point where we’re covering our costs then we’ll expand into the storage room next door and will be able to increase our range further.
Kindest Regards
Jef and Karen

Hi
Congratulations on opening the log awaited shop in High Halden. You will have our whole-hearted support and we wish you every success. Your web page makes no mention of newspapers/magazines. We feel that stocking these items would not only enhance your service but act as a strong draw to increase customer throughput.
Is this something that you are considering?
Graeme & Doreen
